No, he can change between forms freely. Him and the rest of them just like staying as pets cause it's more comfortable for them. During battles you'll see them change back

huh didn’t know that since I was gonna pick this up because it looked interesting. I’d expect kaiden to stay in human form due to his pride and how embarrassing it was for him as a fat cat.
Yeah he was at the start but since the bodies are smaller it makes training and force control easier and since kaiden,pluton and kartien are all force control crazed freaks they stay in the cat form for maximised power training
