Damn this is so good.

What if Diana was controlling those evil spirits and manipulated everyone.

additionally, WHAT IF the room of repentance was a room for Diana to absorb more divine energy from the poor kids

i can see her doing so, it’s really common in these plots for the ogFL/main rival in a power ability setting especially holy divine healing powers to have a power stealing plot. all the facts so far align to diana. in the first timeline, her powers ends while healing joshua and coincidentally, belze is consecutively placed in the repentance room and loses all her power. we never get to hear about any kids placed there after that (as of now) but considering how much power belze has (“an ocean”) it would probably suffice for the remainder of her time in the original timelines for diana to use

The kind og protagonist that ends up being demonic af, a classic.

Let me introduce an alternate theory bc I eat that shit up:
Diana is also an illegitimate daughter who got left at that orphanage by her (what I assume is) power-hungry family, so perhaps she was their instrument, their victim, instead of the big bad.
Maybe there's another mastermind behind those evil spirits (who can boss her parent around) and they're using Diana as a means to undermine/corrupt the faith. They eradicate other potential saints and make Diana, the subsequent "true" saint grovel under their thumb so whatever demonic business they're conducting stays uninterrupted.
