This chapter IS everything.

Hayden tells Brett about what happened to him in the past, about how him presenting as an alpha and losing control traumatized him and made him drop out of theater because he was too scared to face people.

He also tells Brett that once he was shot and stayed in the hospital he understood that recovering is a living being’s instinct and that he’s started to embrace his feelings and emotions as an alpha. He admits that it was thanks to Brett he became that way (I’m melting pls).

Next panels were confusing for me so I could be wrong but my own interpretation is that Hayden says Brett has started to change too. That maybe the reason Brett is skeptical about love, good will, altruism is because Brett himself has idealized those concepts, which means he finds them hard to believe, since they must come from a place of sincerity which is hard to find considering the people he’s surrounded by. Hayden happens to be 100% genuine so I’m sure this realization will make Brett see things differently.

And since Hayden has noticed Brett is actually a good actor he asked him to tell him ‘I love you’ (to prove his theory right) and Brett couldn’t help but stare at him with a blank face and Hayden said “your hesitation gives me hope”…… we’re progressing guys.

Basically, Brett acts the way he does because he’s the alpha son and his father has high expectations out of him, but Brett isn’t happy with that because he wants to dictate his own life. He can put up with certain things for the sake of appearances, but when it comes to his fundamental beliefs, he simply won’t be able to fake it, at all.

Anyway, back to the chapter…. Hayden then left Brett to go back to his room but little did he know Brett wouldn’t let him sleep tonight lmao. It seems obvious now but Brett really expresses his love in a physical way. Brett asks Hayden if he’s ever masturbated while thinking about him and Hayden said of course lmaoooo…. they are getting it on next chapter pls
