I think he does it to distract himself from his thoughts. It pointed out that he can't sit still and has to do something. (When the ML first moved into his house.) And it pointed out that he doesn't like to be alone and inside his house 24/7. He has to leave and be around someone or do something. (When he drank too much and the doctor told him to stop drink all together for a while.)

In this type of relationship, boundaries are more likely to get blurred and crossed. At what point do you draw a line between a relationship and the sex work job.Yoon gu goes out on a date with them, holds them, hugs them, interact sort of like a couple and have sex with them. The only thing these customers wont have is the emotional connection.
