I'm pretty bad at following story lines and the way the manga lays it out kind of confused me. From what I understand, they got in trouble for something... and hush money was given? They're both in debt? Could someone be as kind as to summarize what happened?

I'll try my best to summarize it...

    > Kikuchi (the one w/tattoos) and that lady-friend illegally pocketed money that rightfully belonged to the casino called "Paradise" that they were working at.

    > Shintani found out and Kikuchi wanted to give him hush money to keep him quiet, but he didn't want it and he didn't nark them out anyway.

    > Sudou, who is in charge of the Casino (which is owned by the Yakuza [basically the Japanese mafia]), finds them out; unfortunately, Shintani is there when Kikuchi is exploiting Sudou, and thus he's considered an "accomplice".

    > Kikuchi is now in debt to the Yakuza but has nowhere to live, so Shintani has him stay at his place because he's worried for him. Kikuchi keeps coming back late, cries, has nightmares, and/or has torture marks/burns on him because he has to sell his body in order to make enough money to pay the Yakuza on time.

    > Shintani notices and doesn't like it, so he becomes protective of him and asks Sudou to lighten the load, which Sudou refuses; however, he gives Shintani the option to take the debt upon himself.

    > Shintani ends up agreeing, as well as taking up Sudou's offer to go on date(s) with him for cash. Sudou pays him to go on these dates, and ends up taking Shintani back to his house which is where the Yakuza resides and sleeping with him. One of the Yakuza (the one with the gun) ends up seeing them together and gives Sudou the gun.

    > Later, Shintani asks Sudou if his and Kikuchi's payments are getting recorded, which Sudou says *his* are, but that Saji's taking care of recording Kikuchi's portion. Shintani goes to Saji to try and find out what Kikuchi is doing for cash, but Saji supposedly doesn't know either; however, he does know about Shintani and Sudou, and warns him about Sudou whilst informing him that Kikuchi won't back away from whatever's earning him money because he's "nursing an un-requited love for him" (because if he stops earning an adequate amount of money, Shintani could be in trouble, too).

    > When Shintani goes home late to find Kikuchi waiting up for him, he struggles to fall asleep knowing Kikuchi's true feelings and remembering how he was turned on treating Sudou harshly.

It would seem that he's starting to love Kikuchi but he may also have feelings for Sudou as well (which pisses me off tbh but I digress).
