start off casual, it seems this guy liked/likes you. So just say hi back, ask about his life and see if and if you are able to talk with him without it being awkward that's great! :D if a guy doesn't run away from you after knowing you like yaoi, he's a keeper :p but if you don't like him like that you can still say hi, just make sure to not give him hope ;)
If you dont like him just respond and chat casually maybe he used to like you but sees you as a old friend now. If you like him start as friends and good luck ;)
I actually liked him when we were still in high school, after that embarrassing incident. He asked me out to dinner once, but i rejected him... Well it's bc my parents didn't allowed me to :( he always messaged me first even in the past too, but i didn't know what to reply so i just didn't reply to him at all. I'm such a horrible person :'( I wanted to reply to him but I'm not ready yet, even for just a casual chat. Why's it so hard to just talk to him T^T
Oh btw, all of my male friends knew i like yaoi. So my crushes and the guys who have crushes on me knew i like yaoi as well bc i liked watching yaoi anime in the classroom :D

If you make him wait too long, he might stop waiting. Are you even not ready to just send Hi back? Just pretend like you're talking to one of your friends instead of 'the guy' :)
So there's this guy from my high school (I've graduated now) who at first doesn't really care about anything, everything. He accidentally joined the club I was in bc he thought it was another club/? (He joined the wrong club). I was on hiatus from club activities that time, so I found out about him a bit later. My friends told me he was really quiet, and didn't really talk with anyone. He's like that not only in the club, but in class as well. But I didn't know he was like that bc the first time i talked to him he was laughing along with me bc i was saying something really embarrassing (i told him i liked watching explicit yaoi anime T^T why did i say that..) I think he thinks that I'm weird/? Bc he kept on teasing me whenever he sees me :(
