Usually in a class if everyone takes a quiz or test and everyone gets a bad grade, then the teacher will add extra points to everyone's grade. For example, If everyone got 60s or 50s the teacher might give the class an extra 20 or 30 points. This is a curve.
Often, teachers give curves depending on the highest grade. So if the highest grade was a 90, they'll only give a 10 point curve to make it 100. This can be bad if the rest of the class got 50s, bc theyll only get a 60s. Sometimes, if a person's grade is really high, the teacher wont put a curve, even if everyone else failed.
In my experience, ,it's when the teacher uses the highest scoring test at the top point (the equivalent of 100) to then grade the rest. So, if the highest score is a lame 50 points, that 50 points is now an A and all the other grades below it are graded from the point of view of "perfect score" being 50.

Didn't know what a curve was either when I was in highschool and all the class went wrong in a test the make us retake it, or take extra classes whit an exam at the end
What makes you think the ones who got the higher scores are the ones who studied the hardest? My brother hardly studied and got eighties and nineties while I studied much harder and only got fifties and sixties. I'm the older one, BTW. KT. Also, P.E. is not a good way to build team building skills. It's actually the WORST way to do it. Bullying is the worst in that class and i got the brunt of it. Mmkay. KTBN.
