but yk what? i just thought about it again after reading the other story sequel about the older brother, and i may not know the intentions of the author, but at the same time this could symbolize all the people and familys that actually do this exact thing unfortunately, they misuse religion to manipulate and exploit others
You seem genuine and sound pretty young (forgive me if not), so I will give you my honest opinion. I've read yaoi for almost 17 years (that is not my age), and I have seen plenty of stories located in Arabian countries, as well as other countries or islands. I can confidently say that Japanese people are very ignorant of a lot of things, and yes, most of them can be described as racists and/or xenophobic. Because they simply don't care to learm about what they depict. Here, honestly, the only thing you have is a bad writer who also likes stories with fucked up charactes.
Authors that write this badly rarely give a lot of thought to their story to do what you claim the author did. I mean, is possible, but she's such a bad writer that I don't give her enough credit to do that. She sucks!! She probably thought it was exotic to add that nationality and didn't even learn about the culture. Don't think to deep when the story is this bad, is honestly not worth it.
But also if you cannot read gays because of your culture, because is a sin for your religion or whatever, then stop doing it and read heterosexual manga instead.
This is blatantly wrong on multiple accounts, first off yes you were completely correct to identify this as being racist! The story absolutely features orientalist and racist themes centered around a vague idea of “The Middle East,” and by the by ignorance IS racist. It IS harmful.
But what IS wrong is 1. You just did something that’s haram because you labeled something that ISN’T haram as haram. That’s haram. There are only a handful of sins listed in the quran that are explicitly stated to be haram. Being gay or engaging in same-sex acts is never explicitly mentioned in the quran as an individual act, and it is only ever mentioned in passing in the story of Lut. That would, at most, make being gay something that is nahi, so something that is not encouraged but not necessarily a sin. THIS IS ALSO HEAVILY DEBATED, because every generation of muslim scientists has their own agenda and philosophy. An example would be how the prophet (pbuh) and his Ashab abolished slavery, and immediately after they died slavery was reinstated and argued back into existence. Anyone can twist shariah law to suit their definition.
2. Even if being gay is “haram,” THAT DOES NOT STOP MUSLIMS FROM HAPPENING TO BE GAY! That does not mean you get to deny the existence of people who lead their lives through difficulty and peril! It does not mean you get to lash out at authors who depict someone who holds these two identities within themselves.(I DO NOT LIKE THIS STORY) IT IS NOT OFFENSIVE TO ISLAM. It is homophobic to use your religion as a shield to justify being disgusted at someone! No one will be grateful that you think their existence is repulsive and that they need to stop being themself.
In conclusion I am writing this comment because I want more people to point out the racism that is THERE in the story and not FUCKASS STUPID COMMENTS ABOUT THE STORY BEING OFFENSIVE CAUSE A MUSLIM WAS GAY. THAT LITERALLY HAPPENS IN REAL LIFE! Saying it is haram to islam does not make it less homophobic! The statement is not logical!!!
THANK YOU. I know nothing of Islam since is not my religion but this is what I wanted to point. You can call it racist as it stems for ignorance of a culture, since most Japanese authors don't tend to fact check. However, to call being gay a sin and say is racist because of that was??? So weird. I didn't understand either how the sin was the character being gay and not the reader who, being muslim, is reading it? Make it make sense.
The only sin and criminal act (besides the bad plot) was the brother being an abuser. Not them being gay!

Why did this have to be about muslims? It‘s literally haram to be gay/incest, why r they mentioning God after sinning like that?? I feel like this is racist.
