Cant find

Does anyone know this manga? (Action, male protag)
Its been YEARS since i last read it so i cant remember too much but theres this student, probably 15 and hes being mega bullied and he gets a new male teacher who looks rough and mean and doesnt care. And then the teacher actually was rlly good at fighting?? I think? And somehow the main chara student convinces the teacher to train him in martial arts or some form of fighting. And i remember like near the end of the first series some old man chara dies who was some sensei?? Another thing i remember is it went on a huge hiatus and the first series ended on a cliffhanger and the artists/creators decided to take an 8 years break from continuing the story? (Two authors)
