i told my now boyfriend before we even started dating. i read bl a lot so while i didn't have to tell him about it, i WANTED to tell him about it just like i want to tell him about all my other hobbies

you don't have to show him specifically what you read if you're too embarassed but i think it's okay to casually let him know since you said he isn't homophobic and maybe overtime, you'd be more comfortable (assuming he wants to know more). personally, i wouldn't date someone who'd be against me reading bl or doing any of my hobbies so if he doesn't want you reading it wellllll, that's for you to dwell on lol

you could also just not say anything — but it wouldn't be a good idea to lie imo and say things like "i don't read bl i would never" cause if he ends up finding out, you'll look silly
