I don't think that's going to happen, that's way too serious for BL, but then again Japanese people think countries like Syria are just a desert and are overall no quite used to outsiders and what is happening outside.

OP mentioned the Chechnya's war (that happened in the earliest 2000's), for example. It depends in what way the author plans to build her story. The James Bond's movies are largely based on secret services, politics, conspiring stuff, conflictive relationships between nations (cold war), weapons smuggling, drug trafficking; but all in an easy and 'glamorous' way. I think if Sensei treats her story in this way (until now, she did), that won't lead to a vision of disrespect with the real war matters nowadays.

That's true, so maybe, because her Japanese major audience is less 'sensitive' to these topics, she can work easier with it.

Sure, Japan has quite conformist life view in general. As long as it doesn't involve them they are okay with it and I don't think Finders general audience in Japan knows about East Europe/Middle East very much. I can't say same thing for Russians though, surprisingly there are large amount of Bl readers there. Which I find quite ironic due to it's super conservative Lgbt laws.

It's not ironic at all when you consider that BL has nothing to do with LGBTQ for most readers. I asked once on the main forum whether those who liked reading yaoi were tolerant of gay people and the majority were not.

Well most yaoi start out with one guy forcing himself upon the other to the point of rape, directly followed with stalking and harassing. Of course it has nothing to do with LGBT, and it has done literally nothing to help the cause, it's mostly just a fetish ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

I'm not sure what are you trying to say but I'm naturally going to be offended if Aaron?(whatever his name) turns out to be muslim. I'm a non muslim who lives in a middle eastern muslim?(we don't even have an official religion) country and I'm really sick and tired of how people thinks Muslim=Terrorist. Even op easily labels Russian rebels(is she trying to say Isis in a non offending way?) as muslim which is not ok in my opinion.

Sad to know! :( I know that most part of yaoi stories are so stereotyped that sometimes the uke is nothing more than a woman without tits, but it's not like that with many yaoi stories that are appealing to gay/bisex men, too. The first yaoi I read was a romance-realistic one, and I'm happy I read that one before the others, otherwise I wouldn't be here with you, ladies & guys. Something curious: sometimes I go to some gay/bisex forums to know guys' opinions about same sex marriage, pleasure and many other things. And in one of those forums I saw our Asami as the avatar for the bisex community. (⊙…⊙ )(⊙…⊙ )(⊙…⊙ ). There are so many guys who love our Asami, ladies.
I'm a pretty tolerant person in RL. ^^

Stay calm! I don't think Sensei will go that far, and probably she won't treat some delicate recent problems (I was thinking about the conflict in Georgia/ 2008, too) in a disrespectul way. I don't think muslims are terrorists, they are the first victims of an insane fanatism. Isis has nothing to do with faith or religion, they are only fanatic garbage.

Agreed. Aaron is Hebrew name and if he was muslim his name would be Harun not Aaron. If people open their mouth after learning some facts world would be better place.
I don't think op knows how many Isıs related attacks happens in Middle East and how many soldiers die fighting against terrorists.

Thank you, I'm glad there are people like you in this world. I'm not even muslim but most Europeans/Americans change their attitude towards me when they learn where I'm from and it really hurts me.
You're absolutely right about Isis they are not even real muslims they just use religion as tool for their sick ambitions.

    gu. May 9, 2017 8:38 pm

Plus aren't the first victims of isis are muslims themselves ?? / anyway u have the right to get bothered about it cuz people are so annoying not because u are middle eastern or arab or muslim then u are a terrorist sometimes when i even want to see arabic songs or anime arabic openings or anything related to that language i find comments like : allahu akbar / isis version / killers / my computer is going to explode ect... and as i said before isis has nothing to do with islam they are just an arabian disgusting mafia

I could be wrong, but I thought it meant a fraction group or rival criminal organization rather than "rebels" that want to overthrow a government or form a new country. Organized crime has turf wars all over the world, and Russia is no exception. Russian groups have ties to American crime, South American crime, and Asian crime. It makes sense a turf war is possible within Russian criminal organizations that spills into Japan.

If it were to reflect some real current affairs with possible Russian criminal activities (which I doubt), I would think it more likely the "rebels" are hacking and doing other activities to influence elections in the USA and other places. But it is more likely such groups are running guns and drugs and pulling cons. That's just my image of "The Russian Mafia" (from TV and movies). I don't think we should try to tie to to real world activities though.

I am just wondering if "rebels" is the best translation or if it is referring to a fraction or rival criminal group. Criminal organization can certainly influence governments and put their people into key positions--but that main power struggle would probably be about who runs a given group or which group controls certain things. A group that splintered off and tried to take over could be seen as "rebels" by the crime boss they challenge.

But as an aside, yes, I do think that the FBI has evidence of certain Russian criminal organization activities in the USA. It's not a question of spies but rather of crime lords, big deals, and mutual goals.

We all take our background and biases with us when we read. Some see the story through a background that fears Muslims and Arabs. I fear different things such as organized crime and greed corrupting governments and powerful groups clashing to see who can take over as top dog. Maybe it's best to leave it all as fiction.
