Supper late realisation however I feel it's too late. I love this story and plot, it's written well, however his apologies imo is not enough. His background trauma isn't enough for me to feel bad for him or to want to accept his apologies. The FL will probably eventually accept, which is up to that character but I just wouldn't be able to move past her past suicide attempts. He finally admits it but I hope it takes a really long time to get to the ending of them being together since it would need an immense amount of time to move past what he put her through.
I completely agree, things have gone too far and it is way too late.
