You bring up a good point. I thought Dan was a silly billy for thinking that love could come from this kind of arrangement. I love an uncomfortable reality! I just hope it won't get resolved super easily. I need the ML to do some soul-searching and have his view further shattered. I think everyone in his life has been used as a tool to some extent, and since he's so strong and pigheaded, there aren't a lot of people willing to tell him that he's an asshole.
Agreed, Ml practically grew up never being told no for an answer. with MC putting his foot down in an actual realistic manner (rather than a huffy outburst or something else that would be out of character), ML has no other choice but to actually come to terms with the reality that he built for himself in regards to his relationship with MC. very good take!
When I think back, he doesn't treat his peers very well either. His overconfidence and bullheadedness blind him to the obvious. Also, he met with Kim Dan's grandmother, who thinks highly of him, and he STILL treats Kim this way. I was reading through other comments because I forgot he immediately blamed Kim Dan for the foot spray without hearing him out. And, of course, the chapter where he makes Kim Dan put something inside of him the entire way to that actor's apartment.
The ONLY time he has ever treated Kim with any amount of care is when he was drunk off his ass. I do hope he has an emotional breakthrough or SOMETHING. I do NOT want Kim Dan's heart to be won so easily.
I do wish Kim Dan had developed a stronger spine earlier on, but the kid has been through so much that it makes sense he wouldn't think too hard for too long about his own physical/mental state.
i really like this approach because he’s being passively realistic in how ML actually treated MC, showcasing the uncomfortable reality of their situation. ML finally becoming gradually aware of how much of a tool he has been. I cannot wait for him to start grovelling at MCs feet begging for mercy.
