It wasn't explained in novel either (we didn't get ML perspective on this). Maybe he just didn't want Liv to "sneak" a kiss while they're walking? Or just chuck it as author oversight.

Why would he carry Mason over his shoulder though? It's not like his legs were hurt or something. Henrick confuses me a bit but I guess I will be reading the novel at some point to understand it all
