I disagree with most part, but at the end I disagree the most. I think whether he'd come from the desert or ice fields or atlantis, ML would still call anyone near FL underdeveloped primate. It's just a general insult. Are caucasians not a primate too? Hey we are both primates. Insults are meant to be mean.
It is absolutely not a general insult, it has been used throughout history to degrade people with dark skin. I seriously doubt he would've chosen that insult if it was instead the alchemist guy who got close to her.
I think you’re reading into the insults the ML throws around too much. I’m pretty sure Nyang in the novel is described as tan, not black. And even if he was, I doubt the author meant to imply it as racist—the ML is just mean to every other character who isn’t the FL

That’s…not really what’s happening
The one page we got from the blacksmith sisters backstory/perspective was more interesting and in-depth from anything we’ve gotten from the protagonist. All of her bonds and motivations feel incredibly shallow, as well as her personality. People are loyal to her because (checks notes) she’s a cute little girl. That’s pretty much it. She has had literally zero genuine bonding moments with anyone, like she said ‘I’ll always be by your side’ to the ML: bro we have not seen a single scene where you have a true connection with him, it’s just shallow conversations.
I really want to like this story because the art is so good and it seems more feminist than the majority of stories, but it’s just so lacking in any substance.
Plus, the ML keeps calling the guy from the desert an ‘underdeveloped primate’. Yea, racism is sooo attractive.
