We don't actually know if Munham doesn't know how to train his abilities. Maybe Munham has some way of knowing or finding out since he lives with other foxes. So it would be prudent for KinHeon to want to know everything about his magic so he can protect his family because he knows that the Fox leader is constantly after them.
