He might have one. I just watch too many soap operas where everyone has an evil twin. It wasn't clear to me yet what is going on. You may be right because Coen blanks out certain things and cannot remember. But again, I watch too many dramas and I can think of other ways that may happen--like my hypothetical evil twin drugging him for part of some plot.
Opiates come from poppies. Coen hallucinates and the imagery hints that he self-harms (cuts himself) and there were suggestions of attempted suicide (the noose with the poppies, the poppies he sees while standing at what he later calls a "non-suicidal" spot on the edge by the train, the way Noi hides knives). I think both Coen and Noi have some sort of mental health issues (but not the same issue).
I have some speculation. It may not be true. I think some unknown person hired Noi to watch Coen and make sure Coen does not kill himself. I think Noi is a writer, and I am not sure if what he is writing will be good for Coen--like maybe he took the job to get information? I don't know. It's not clear yet.
I think Coen's shrink is bastard, and I think the cat is better therapy than that smug jerk. And I think they could let Coen have an electric raiser so he could shave.
Coen says he is a worse monster than Noi, so I guess we are in fora bumpy ride.
