He does have a permanant injury. His hand has recovered but a portion of his brain that controls the right hand has been damaged and damaged/dead neurons don't regenerate so it will never go back to complete recovery. The VR system works on brain waves so his brain compensates for the damaged part and helps him do archery as he wants. This is why he gets super tired and sweaty when ever he uses the VR pod. Anyways, he slowly makes peace with it and starts enjoying streaming and games so he lets his past go.
Is the doctor quack too and Almond actually doesn't have a long lasting injury?
