Ok.
Maxi's and Ruth's hard work of trying to hide Maxi failed. She was caught in less than a week when she was trying to bathe and encountered riftan. Riftan was angry that his peace was interrupted by an unknown female priestess (forgot what they are called but lets say priestess for now), not realizing it was Maxi. What gave it away was when she responded to him, trying to changed her voice in a croaking way. Her habit got removed when she tried to walk away and exposed her. This resulted with Riftan being extremely pissed and Maxi crying. The knights didn't expect a quiet noblewomen to be so stubborn and daring. The only ones who were happy to see her upon first glance were Garrow, Yuly, and Hebaron. This is when Ursuline, who hated Maxi, started to realize that she wasn't a spoiled, entitled, condescending noblewomen. She gained a bit of his respect.
For extra spoilers ahead...
Hebron was cursed by a black lizard, which brought down the morale of the knights in fear that they, too, will be cursed. Of course, hebaron was ashamed of it and was cranky due to pain and lack of sleep. Even tho in pain, he was happy to see Maxi. Maxi mixed herbs, something Ruth didn't know, to numb the pain which allowed him to finally fall asleep. I mention his curse as it was Maxi who broke Hebron's curse along with saving everyone in Ethlene at the cost of massive blood loss, broken bones, dislocated shoulder, mana depletion , and the life of her baby.
Riftan's plan, before Maxi saving everyone and being critically injured, was to provoke the monsters to an all out battle to eliminate them all. Of course when you in war , fighting monsters , you try to fight away from base. Riftan and the knights, however, didn't realize that it was the monsters plan to get them away from Ethlene castle so they can kill everyone there. Underneath ethlene were monsters and ghouls waiting for the knights to leave and try to overtake ethlene. The monsters intentionally let them retake ethlene so they can kill them and take their base, again. Maxi was forced to be a deserter by yuly and garrow under riftan's command . Being a deserter is a serious crime, which can lead to death on spot. But bc Maxi was outside of ethlene, she succeeded in killing majority of the monsters army and the lizard that cursed Hebaron by weakening the soil underneath the walls and rock that protected ethlene, and crushed them.
