it's like they don't understand how traumatizing rape is, they just know it's bad and want to use it as a plot device. i remember thinking they could have made zhenya or whatever his name is make moves on MC, try to sway him and when it seems to be working MC gets faced with the betrayal and THEN is brutally beat. It's not perfect but i think it would be better than that brutal ass rape scene lol
