im not gonna lie, this story is getting VERY draggy. i know that this story is focused on her acting, but considering that the whole basis of this story is brought up due to her romantic feelings, there is very little afterwards. its also getting to the point where we technically know that kyoko would get the roles in the movie, but the artists adds on 4-5 chapters of that, which i didn't mind in the beginning but presently it doesn't seem like anything surprising anymore. also, back to the romance in this, the story is 30+ volumes and there is only a tiny speck of her and ren actually doing anything romantic, much less even get started on their relationship. i actually LOVED this story , but 30+ volumes of repeated going to acting auditions, other guys trying to make a move on her, her actual love interest, not being in the story too much, im wondering weather this would go anywhere. i said the same thing for naruto and one piece, but 1, naruto ended and 2, one piece is going somewhere with sanji's arc, after countless random battles with people. also another thing that hinders with the romantic plot line is kyokos personality. if ren remotely tries to do anything romantic, or nice towards her she starts to act out, aka no progress. im now wondering if the story was planned out this way or the artist is just doing this to rake in more money, because i know that a lot of hardcore fans are REALLY eager to see ren and kyoko take their relationship to the next step.

So, I think that most people are missing what this manga is about. Yes, romantic feelings is what started her story, but the author quickly informed readers that this is your typical manga.

That's what drew me in, I also like namaikizakari, Imuran high school host club, History Strongest Disciple (although it is unnecessarily sexual...seriously), and horimiya.

I like untraditional female characters. Romance can be present, but not the main issue/plot of the manga.

This manga is not meant to be a traditional girl meets boy and fall in love, in fact the author pointed that out multiple times and continues to do so.

Skip beat is about a girl who has always put herself last learning to put herself first. The skip beat title dose not refer to the falling in love with a person, it's more about her taking control of her own life and trying new adventures that make her heart race. Skip beat is about a girl who is trying to find herself and happens to, (again) happens to, falls in love along the way. She is first, and her love life is second.

I don't think this manga is a romance: it think the top of is webpage is right.
Genre(s): Comedy / Drama / Shoujo / Slice of Life (Yes, other websites have romance, but I think they are wrong). A lot of manga have romance, but are romance based, and this is on of them!

    (Skip if you want)
On a personal note: I am a 33 middle class AA woman, who grow up in a lower class household. I grew up in a single parent home, and I was glad my parents were not married, and so we're my siblings. Marriage is not the endpoint for everyone. But when I went to college, I was shocked by how focused everyone is on marriage and relationships, annoyed in fact.

But, it's okay, because everyone is different...apparently I am really different.

I am a demisexual and while I can do romance, I don't need it constantly. I enjoy other connections as well. I've been in an 8 year relationship, we have two kids and I am not interested in getting married. But without a doubt, he is it. We're as serious as any couple married or not. And we are very intimate (sexual and not sexual) with each other, but we both enjoy me/individual time.

But, what I love about us is he does no have to play they role of a "man" and I don't have to play the role of a "woman". He's him and I am me. We are lovers, friends, rivals in careers, partners, and more. ...(now to my long a$$ point) Ren and Kyoko have the same thing. I love that she wants to crush him with her acting, and that they are there for each other without one overshadowing the other.

    (Pick up here)
Kyoko is not Ren (romance) obsessed and I like it.
+Note, she does obsess over him a little, but it more work related than romance related!

I personally like the pace, and the author made it clear from the beginning that the romance portion of this is not the main issue and is going to be slow. And she kept to it!

So, continue or don't continue (it's up to you, and no judgment), but be aware that you will be frustrated if you desire this to be a traditional romance manga. Because it is not and will never be.

No ill intent towards your comment, but I think people are missing the point of this manga.

Btw, My friend is the same way with Scandal (I don't watch it), I tell her to go on a date with her husband and the fiction won't bother her so much! ...I am not sure if this is or bad advice for you are not! But, it works for her!

    ^
Seriously, ignore, if this dating/date night advice is irrelevant to you!
