the only times when rape is normalized by a story is when a story aims to be something normal hence the normalizing.
for example, if you have a normal romance story and there is rape by the main characters and they end up together all happy ever after, thats normalizing bad behaviors.
but when you have a story that presents itself as a fucked up reality, its not normalizing anything. its not pretending or trying to convince the reader that the bad things that are happening are redeemable, its all simply the product of a fucked up environment.
do you understand the nuance?
