Sounds like it to me too, but in this case instead of it being framed as the irritable person/ people being cute tsundere's there's a more realistic view on things. A bit sad, but definitely more likely than people "just knowing" that the "tsundere" is a good person and actually does care.
It's oddly refreshing tbh, even if it's resulted in the MC feeling unwanted.
