Love sangyang! you might like Leo from humiko! it also delves in character studies, generational trauma and bigotry with characters you see grow from childhood to highschool. Though the caveat(?) is that its incredibly cute and pg so no sex scene etc. If you liked the political aspect of dark heaven, you might like Immortal Days from Heo Gin Gae that is technically not a BL, but the lines are blurred and the society they live in is really rich and unique that talks about the rise of religious-like mentality and how it directly or indirectly impacts a wide variety of characters

ive also been reading Stigma from Marloon and its the most similar story/aesthetic as Dark Heaven ive seen so far!
Check out Dear Gene. It is also about gay lovers living together in a "western" setting. Major portions of the story are told in flashbacks, similar to Dark Paradise. The themes aren't as political, but it does tackle self discovery in a very mature way. It's probably one of my favs.
