Thanks for backing me up! And yes I'm in no way defending this trope. I'm just letting the og commenter know the facts in japanese culture which is why these kind of tropes of nearly minor on adult jobs are common to be presented in their entertainment mediums such as yaoi. Just to make it less disturbing, entertainment establishments may hire minors based on their age of consent (I'm talking about 16 and above) because they are cheaper labor(as long as they don't make fuss about being a minor) but they only act as a helper, waiters, errand takers so they should still be fairly protected by their employers on mature stuff. Other industries also hire young but most of the time its either for common jobs such as convenience stores clerk or apprentices for artisans job that takes years to master.
I'm reiterating, I'm not defending the extra chapter but I'm just coming from why yaoi authors like to romanticize or exaggerate such idea because young children there are taught to be independent as early as they could such as getting a part time jobs during their free time even if they are still in school.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk!
