You're right, it's very much real. So is rape, pedophilia, murder, sex trafficking, terrorism, abduction, parricide, etc. And yet there are movies/books/tv series being made with said themes.
I believe its very important to distinguish the moral boundaries between such literary pieces versus real life current events.
I, for one, condemn rape. And believe to my very core that convicted rapists should be publicly executed. Do I enjoy consuming contents about rape? Yes. Because there's a clear solid line between Fiction and Reality that I will never cross. I may be fascinated by it on literature, but I am disgusted by it in real life. I will not watch news or read the newspaper and have the same sentiments as I do when I read books and watch movies.
Besides, I don't read/watch for the crime itself, I do so for the narrative, the storyline.

But, of course, name calling is fun, too. I suppose.
