I never called him a red flag, i just said he's not a green flag and that he has a hidden agenda, which is obvious regarding the clues we are given. He doesn't have to be evil, he's just obviously NOT the innocent character he appears as. Considering the meaning behind the title, it's not crazy to consider it, it just means you have basic observation skills. I'm also free to have my own emotions and be disappointed that he's not as i wanted him too, which is completely pure. Why are you so pressed about my view regarding the topic?

I'm sorry I didn't mean to make it sound like you're crazy. That was not my intention at all I promise. I'm not that intense unlike other ppl I've witnessed on this site. I'm not that die hard to the point where I'd have an argument with someone over a story. I must admit I do get sassy.
So you basically assumed things and came to came up with a highly biased and subjective conclusion. My 'wording' was nothing but me taking into account my observations and suggesting possibilities regarding the plot. A main character being shady doesn't mean that the story is going to be shit in the first place, just possibly more interesting and complex, personal preference regarding ml's personality aside.

We’re all allowed to interpret things differently, and I’m always open to debate when it comes to the plot. What I find frustrating is when things get personal instead of staying focused on the story.
Just be a bit more mindful of how you phrase things next time. The way your response came across, it felt like the issue wasn’t with what I said about the character, but more with the fact that I said it at all, simply because it didn’t match your “optimistic” view.

Passive aggressive is really funny coming from you. You already explained what you meant with your observations and have i explained my part there's no need to state how unbecoming, judgemental, assuming and biased you think someone is because of one comment. As for the last part sure, i will enjoy the rest of the story.
Not surprised he's not truly a green flag, just disappointed. Although he did appear suspicious right from the start. People keep forgetting about the first chapter and his insensitive, opportunistic behaviour. He's by far less naive than he appears, it's a facade because he has a purpose. He has a side that the other people living in town have witnessed, hence their cowering.. He most likely has an unhealthy obsession with his purpose to protect and control (yes control, that's what he does from the shadows, at least for mc who is oblivious to his behaviour) the town he 'built'. He has displayed slightly narcissistic behaviours and for now he seems to enjoy the attention from mc without actually feeling attracted to him. He has a hidden agenda, almost as if he's searching for a way to gouge out mc's usefulness and tie him to the town ir get something else from him. We'll see.
