I think so, I’ve seen this happen a lot in adaptations and I think it’s for character consistency and to help avoid confusion, but idk it’s always more confusing to me
Yes. He had black hair before he disappeared in the rift. After he came back from the rift his hair was white, but he didn't want to stand out, so he started dyeing it black. The period in which his hair was white was quite short and it's the same in the novel
I thought he also had lighter hair pre-rift in the novel but I could be misremembering
Tbh me too, I thought it went gray due to all the stress and pressure he was put through as J but maybe I’m misremembering as well?

"From the moment he escaped the West Sea rift, his hair had turned gray. To avoid drawing attention, he regularly dyed it black, but whether due to his regeneration ability or some unknown reason, it quickly reverted to gray."
Is there a reason why they don't draw J with white hair anymore? Even in flashbacks he have black hair
