I hate that in the end they decided to put a heartwarming scene between akitora and his son too as if he wasn’t neglectful the whole time. he dont give a fuck abt his son lmao. rogi apologised for what he did(raping his son) and akitora didn’t even bother to ask what he did. just dismissed it by saying yakuza is yakuza and what rogi did turn his son into a better man tf? no, your son became a better man not bcs of rogi but his lover/himself. even asoda is more like a father to him

I think this was my issue too, I'm all for messed up and fucked up characters and it was already established that the world of yakuza is fucked that this is more the norm however this truly didn't explain anything, like you left to become someone worthy and you did it by graping the son?? Honestly i think this story should have been first and the the sons story because it felt like the mangakan wrote the son's story and then wanted to write this one but didn't like the OG direction so switched it around. If anything I would have preferred there to be more after the last stuff. Personally I would have preferred Rogi to suffer a bit more but he have established that tora is a crazy f too so then it could have gone the completely crazy route, but it's so wishy washy idk.
I feel like scarlet beriko often doesn’t know how to end a story. Most of her other stories are plot with ‘normal’ people so it even if the resolution is average, its still good.
but this story about yakuza has so much tension just to have a flat conclusion.
I read this bcs of the sequel about the son, why rogi did that? how bad their falling out was that he’s willing to do something so terrible to the son of the man he loved but in the end its really just nothing? like, you’re the one who left but now you’re raping the son who you used to see as a baby for what? his reason doesn’t make sense and it felt like the author just wanted to move past that plot point bcs the author when writing this story suddenly isnt willing to make rogi and the dad has THAT much conflict. like scarlet beriko wrote rogi in the sequel as someone who’s willing to do anything bad to get what he wants but now in jealousy,she aren’t willing to make rogi THAT bad of a character to make this story’s villain look vile. in the end the characters just fell flat. take shigure from fruit basket for example of a bad person but still understandable and complex.
tldr: the son and wife deserve to kill rogi and the dad
