i mean i can’t speak for the other two commenters involved here, but while everyone is absolutely allowed to like / dislike whatever they want & are absolutely allowed to drop things and i fully agree with that sentiment, i personally just can’t help but raise a brow when people criticise odajima for sleeping around because this isn’t just an everyday playboy-turned-monogamy story, this is specifically a story involving a closeted teenager w sexual trauma trying to force himself to react to women so it runs a little deeper than how he tends to be dismissed under the playboy category. everyone can absolutely read what they want and subsequently drop what they want, but ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
I get what you mean, and I agree the story has deeper layers with odajima’s trauma. I just didn’t agree with the other two commenters and I think it’s also okay if someone doesn’t enjoy that part and chooses to drop it. As readers, we feel both the mc and ml’s emotions, also they said they were hurt seeing the ml with other people. Understanding the character and still feeling hurt by his actions can both be true. Everyone connects with stories differently, and that’s valid too. (=・ω・=)
Literally, like I'd get it if it's your typical yaoi, but sono was obviously suffering here, we even saw him vomiting after doing it.
While I get it's about preference, it's also good to understand the context under which these stuff happen before criticizing them.

exactlyyyyy that’s exactly it!! it’s shown (and told) pretty bluntly what the specifics of the situation here are. everyone is absolutely allowed to have their preferences and likes / dislikes but just about every criticism of pittosporum i’ve seen on here involves interpreting the story really shallowly / at face value…. which is what makes me disgruntled enough to comment as per here because the story is ultimately about such a serious topic & treats odajima and yano’s struggles and growth with a lot of sincerity and weight LOL bl is not immune from necessity of media literacy / analysis just bc it’s bl!
I can't bring myself to like the seme, I understand him but he keep sleeping with other girls even when he realised his feelings for uke. I know he want to escape the reality but still it hurts to see him fooling around. So I will be dropping this.
