This Shalam guy, they want to become a saviour of humanity or some of this sort.
Now all of the aliens consider humans not really intresting, not worth a while. They were treated like food for awhile and even now some aliens want to eat them. Even Miria wasn't interested in humans at all until she saw Mori. And there is Shalam who is said to know the most about humans, but why would they be interested in it they're one of the most powerful beings, humans to them seem like bugs.
We know that Miria and Shalam are offsprings of bigger entity called judge they were made from its fingers. There are seven fingers and above them are three entities made from legs of judge, we also know that Shalam is the first finger, and Miria is the fourth but despise that, Miria is considered to be the head of all fingers. Now judge is so powerful that it is considered the beginning and end of the universe so he could be lowkey considered some kind of god as no other can match his power, even though aliens don't know the concept of god but you know who does? Humans.
So if Shalam did shit ton of research about humans to create by safe place for them, they must also know that religions were playing an important role in our societies. After all depending on what religion you believed or did not believed you had diffrent holidays, traditions, and gods or objects of religion. Also each religion has its own set of rules on how to behave in order to achieve life after death or something along this lines.
Now a pop quiz time did humans created gods or gods created humans, as I said aliens don't really mention any religions or this sort of things we can imagine that in this universe humans created gods. Anyways for sake of my theory let's say that power is something you can gain from trust, or belive that people put into you. How would that work? The more people belive in you the stronger u are, it is not an unknown concept it was used especially in older religions and its also used in everyday life let's say politics the more people trust u the stronger is your position and what comes with it power, the same goes for currencies and stuff like this they are powered by trust.
Now how does it connect with story. Shalam is the first of fingers but not the most important and even if they were to be the most important finger they would still have four entities above them. So we have two options they're jealous of those above them or they has some grand goal that requires shit ton of strength. Either way they made their research on how to gain power and found out about humans and religions, if the power works the way that I explained above, then they just found out an infinite strength hack.
None of humans know that they live in a bubble, they don't know about other fingers, legs or the judge but they know about Shalam and Shalam is kind they saved humanity from aliens he would never lie to them, wouldn't he? And if anyone tried to cause na uproar of some sorts it can be easily silenced.
And even if power does not work based on trust, religion is an easy way to gain trust. If so maybe they could make themselves into saviour of humanity just to use trust human put into him to harvest their life energy in some way, experiment on them or use them for their entertainment. They could maybe every year show up and choose a couple of people as "chosen once" and those people would come with them, and then Shalam would experiment on them, as other humans were blissfully unaware of horrors the chosen ones go thru. Perhaps the corpses we saw of person with child were chosen ones who tried to runaway, or the chosen ones go to playground to see who would survive if we look at entertainment theory.

No matter the Shalam's objective the scariest thing is that nobody would care what his up to. Aliens less powerful than them wouldn't dare to say anything to them. Aliens above them don't care about humans enough to look into what he's doing and even if he sends reports about humans and he seems truly fascinated by them. Anyways I am reading into it way too much lolol

Love the theory! Although i would say its a 50/50 chance for the story to go there since the focus of the story is mori's life. If your theory happens then idk how the story will unfold (mori fighting shalam??)
