i can’t be the only one that thinks this lame, it works if they’re childhood friends but the whole they were close as kids but then grew up and forgot each other is just an easy way for authors to have an easy connection instead of developing a the romance

    i think it can work in some contexts but i wish that it wasn’t used to not write the couple bonding or forming a connecting but that’s not just this story, it’s in general

    I totally get what you mean. To do it justice for development’s sake (I also experienced this irl so I lived it), the separation - which is usually painful - has to be shown.
