I’ve also read Pearl Boy, and whew I am tired of the amount of rape there was. Authors should normalize implying rape happened rather than graphically drawing them out, or making it seem as if the victim enjoyed it.
I’m also tired of the bottoms being prostituted forcefully tropes. I still read it because I want to and I enjoy the author’s art and writing at times, it’s my decision. I shouldn’t be told to read something else because I criticized an overly used trope and scenes.
