Yeah, culturally speaking, adopting is still frowned upon, even if they're relatives. I can only imagine how much harder it is for same sex couples even to consider doing that...
Being in a same sex relationship shouldn't automatically mean no children. It should be a choice for the person whether they want to or not independent on sexuality. I'm so happy to live in a country where me and my partner can become parents. From what I've learned about same sex relationship in Japan they accept that children will never be a part of their family constellation.
