tbf he triggered his fight/flight/freeze response and maybe the vulture-looking bird would've gotten even more excited (and aggressive) to hunt him if he tried to run away?
Literally same, like he was terrified frozen and in despair because it really was hopeless but still managed to call ML and tell him, like that’s better than most of us probably
