AHHHHHHHHHHH READ SANYANG THE WANDERER it’s an action mystery with slow burn sub plot romance and it has gorgeous art. Also, I was the one who recommended you The Crow so you know I have good taste (▰˘◡˘▰)

The only thing I will say about rainbow city though is that there’s SA in chap 3 where the ML almost puts his dick in the mc’s mouth while he’s sleeping but gets interrupted by our very lovable female side character. Best to skip that part because the author added it in as a gag thing and brings no significance to the plot what so ever and the Mc is non chalant about the whole thing.
Anyways moving on let’s begin with the plot,
It’s post apocalyptic setting in which a company had decided to release a virus to sell vaccines turning everybody into a zombie. The virus started to mutate this rendering the vaccine useless and the world was declared for a state of emergency. As nations fell they banded together in over to stop the spread of the vaccine, creating what is the main setting of the story “rainbow city” in Seoul Korea which was a city mainly controlled by the government split into seven sections to measure the zombie or “Adam” rate, with green being the safest and red being the most dangerous as well as military bases to to train and raise soldiers and hiring researchers in order to develop newer vaccines, but the problem was that the virus kept mutating and have already mutated 7 times rendering all the vaccines useless and the story goes from there. The only place unaffected by the virus was JeJu Island which is where the protagonist, Dr.SeokHwa, came from. A 34 year old poker faced genius researcher with a weak body that isn’t strong enough to even run, and had a strong obsession with rocks (reason will be revealed later) who once had been to rainbow city with his mentor but had returned back to JeJu Island to live a peaceful life was now needed to research the new variant. So the city sent soldier “Major Kwak SuHwan” to get him off the Island as well as the job of being the doctor’s personal bodyguard because Major Kwak Suhwan, being the strongest man in Rainbow city, barged into the red zone late at night without warning and caused a shit ton of chaos, massacring Adams just to fuel his alcohol addiction and was now given 2 options. 1. Get Dr.Seok off JeJu island and be his guard or 2. Go to the guardhouse which was basically a detention center for soldiers. Major Kwak, having the most fuckboy personality and was still reluctant to do it, manages to convince Dr.Seok to go back. However, he soon figures out the reason. Dr.Seok’s old mentor had been murdered in the base. With that, Dr.Seok starts to research the death of his mentor and starts to find things in Rainbow City that is not what it seems. Ofc that’s only 1% of the plot as they also have things to do with rebels, the lead’s parents and their connections to the rebels and the city, the truth about vaccines/cures alongside an action filled plot. For the manhwa, the Mc is kind of twinky and the face and neck proportions are a bit off for some panels of the manhwa but it will get better. The plot will ALWAYS keep you on your toes as it combines post apocalyptic with dystopian elements such as 1984. You never know who to trust and the main leads ALWAYS have more to them than meets the eye. And sometimes it makes the reasons for their actions a bit confusing but in my opinion that just adds to the mystery as a whole.

And ofc we got our loveable side characters. Major Lee Chaeyun your hotheaded girlboss and our local teddy bear Major Yang Sanghoon.
Our disgusting villain whom I won’t reveal who but is the living definition of insanity. AND SO MANY MORE CHARACTERS AND PLOT POINTS TO BE DISCOVERED.
All that mixed with a romance that goes from 2 characters thinking each other is annoying, but slowly but surely will grow into obsession for each other from both ends. The dynamic is absolutely amazing, pure unspoken love. MMM MMM MMMMM

The art is gorgeous. It might not be for everyone, but that’s what drew me in even more to the story the Gothic art style really does go well with the storyline. I’ve never read anything like it before. All the characters are well written, including female characters like they are actually well written and complex, which is not very common in BL they’re usually one dimensional and simply there to snatch someone’s man but no in this story, even the female villain are interesting and even though we’re not supposed to like her, You generally enjoy, her character like she’s funny, manipulative well calculated and always one step ahead. The chemistry and tension between the two leads is also really good like they’re always so close to kissing or confessing, but something always ruins the moment or one of them always backs out which makes you root for them even more. The angst and yearning is also top-tier. Now let me get into the storyline. It’s about clans and each heir had a guardian. Lau the mc has a mysterious and complicated relationship with his master, one day, a huge tattoo started forming on his back which could possibly be a curse. So they embark on a journey to figure out what is truly going on. It’s a mystery and action BL with multiple plot twists and I mostly focuses on the plot than romance, it’s kind of like a shounen so if you’re more plot driven, I think you will really enjoy it.
