Well, for me, it’s nothing is completely lost. MC it’s indeed dense and naive. But he’s still a adult and speaks his mouth a lot when something it’s bothering him (specifically with the esper ML), he’s is also no prude when it’s comes to sex, when he found out how good it feels with ML, he can't contain his curiosity for long and doesn't hesitate much to jump on his esper.
So I guess it’s up to the person, he is still a damsel in distress type uke (well, all guides are like that since in this manhwa since the won’t teach them combat skills #－.－)) but he’s no necessarily a coward
