She is weak and she is afraid of her son! As you saw, he hit her too, and probably his father him too, and she just was to weak and she was scared to do anything. Wrong, but it happens in really life too... unfortunately! :/
I would've agreed had she not purposely lied to Bum that his uncle wouldn't be coming home and then direct him to sleep in his uncle's room. After that, I really cannot feel any pity for her.
Yeah, I agree with that, but on the other hand she is an old lady, at the end of her life -probably- and she is afraid that maybe she is going to be killed. What she have done is soooooooo freaking wrong, and she had to take her grandson and disappear a lot of years ago, but I can't be inside her mind. She, obviously, has serious issues herself.
