unfortunately true, in so many Bls as well as straight stories, its saddening :(
I can still find good bls where the couple is on equal standing or atleast mc can defend himself but that's so hard to find the same cause even if the fl is potrait "strong" but the ml will always be in control. There's just too many stories where the fl ends up as a damsel in distress or suddenly not able to defend herself when she's against ml
lol BL where the uke and seme are on “equal terms” when most of these dudes are just abusers or even if they aren’t explicitly abusive they still have power play between them where the seme either has control bc of how much sexual experience he has compared to the uke, or bc he’s rich and powerful. I’ve read a bunch of BL and straight stuff alike, and it’s not one genre being better or less toxic than the other. It just depends on what you find and I’ve read a lot of good straight stuff too
I have read amazing straight stories, theres really many good out there. There are also amazing Bls out there but many do have the same issue you just mentioned and many unfortunately also do contain rape and abuse
It takes a lot of courage for me to read straight stories cause 90% of the time there's some power dynamic or hidden misogyny and I hate it , i can't romanticize this
