Idk... but I have a feeling that the woman was supposed to be his original "fated mate" I guess. I presume that Lee Yeon forcibly changed their fates when he was young (if the memory that flashedback after Lee Yeon confronted the Red String Boulder is his).
I think it's a past life thing. In a previous life Lee Yeon changed their fates and it's gone through to their current lives.
