Omg we really are witnessing the calm before the storm right!? (T_T)
the pond scene was definitely my first thought as well. really great parallels o draw !! we've really come so far as to see our Nok become a king.
and you're so right for the evil queen part lmao. ykw ive noticed is, out of the stories ive read (bl ones) , there are only a handful of them which use female characters to their full potential. otherwise some dont even have females in them lmao. I'm happy that the females in this story were so remarkable .
I also had a doubt. yk after the panels

Oops sorry it got cut T T
anyways as i was saying after the panels in which the queen's death is Announced and nok says he'll have to pay his majesty a visit . We have some narrative boxes saying (if the translations are correct on my end) --
"Later, Prince Ju Seong called his biological mother, Queen Han,
'she was a person who neither knew how to give nor receive love.'
Still, he reminisced for a long time about the one person who kept him from losing his way. (most prob nok right???)
"
the tone of the message here, why does it sound like it's being narrated about in the far future? like is it just a general narrative (like old historical events kind of) thing? or something else

I'd say the case is it's hard to find a good plot - and a good plot contains well written characters and their side stories. Since it's not that easy, but a loooooot of ppl think "I wanna be an author!" and also many of them are published, this is how it ends.
Same with tv series, there're the kind where almost every scene is focused on interaction between the leads, but there's not much story in it. Other characters? There are, but it would be the same if there weren't XD Not my cup ;)
However when it comes to BL I can understand lack of women. At some point. (Esp when sometimes men look girly enough, ekhm...)
Yeah the narrative boxes with a horrible font are like a history written in the annals. It felt strange tho when I imagine young Juseong (he's still really a child) saying "...didn't know how to give or receive love".
Lemme play with "my version" (๑❛ᴗ❛๑):
Later, Prince Juseong criticised that his biological mother, the deposed Queen Han "was a person who neither knew how to give nor receive love." However, for a long time he reminisced the one person who kept him from losing himself.
I'm not very convinced those summarisations are from far future - when Juseong is the king, but we can't exclude it.

I've forgotten: finally Nok was laughing heartily :3 We had to wait 96 chapters for such occurrence, but we got it <3 I'm so happy for him.
Sadly the next chapter will be rather sad: but the question is: the attack will be directed at Jaeshin (with Nok protecting him; maybe dying in the process or be seriously wounded) or at Nok?? At first I've written as if it'll be Nok, but actually I expect the old guy to go straight at Jaeshin.

The loop is looping! The author is wrapping up the end so perfectly it's almost scary. Since the queen's decline, I open every new chapter with a bigger anxiety. We now know the old man story is the one that's gonna take Nok down. I believe he'll aim at Nok and not Jaeshin. He surely noticed (since he's been spying on them before) that Nok is now Jaeshin's biggest treasure, just like his beloved son was to him. There's no better revenge to hurt Jaeshin and let him live with the same sorrow as him than to take his lover from him. The biggest question is what are the author's plans for this project: a new season or not. If the end of this BL is just few chapters away than I would say Nok will probably survive and they will have a happy ending in one way or another. If there's a whole new season then I would expect a tragic cliffhanger for this season (and maybe a reincarnation for next season??). Anyone has any information about the author's plan?

if im being really honest, the reincarnation troupe is getting really common in these kind of stories , so I kind of hoped we would get somewhat of a different conclusion, since night song itself had a unique concept. that being said , i also did not want open endings (never had a thing for them if im being honest) . especially knowing how nok is a mortal and jaeshin can live really long (he isnt immortal tho right??) .
but my unimaginative brain actually could not think of anything beyond reincarnation lmao. but ik the creators are gonna write it beautifully. also had this thought in my mind , and surprisingly even found someone mention it (here on or X earlier) that , they could even show us nok and jae meeting across different life time, each time nok is reincarnated. (either way every ending will be bittersweet for me cause there'll be nothing to look forward to the next week :") )
and sadly the creators have not mentioned anything as of yet. everyweek when ever crj posts an update, i rush to find if anything is mentioned about the season/series end

I think the reincarnation tropes are a Chinese thing... Have you come across them in Korean stories that often?
Nethertheless I'm quite sure we won't get reincarnation and different times ride - C.R Jade loves traditional clothes ;) Also it would be too tiring to win Nok's heart every single time...
If Nok dies really soon I'm guessing they could move to the underworld. Even Nok's mother could stayed there and have Jaeshin, right? And a few years after. Same for Nok, for example bc he saved Yeomra's son? Or that long time ago the messengers brought him to the underworld by mistake? (but I wouldn't expect such sympathy from them...) And then, when they are ready to part, Nok will go through reincarnation and forget everything.
The important part here is Jaeshin will let him go. Or they'll just stay together as a ghost an a half-ghost ;)) But the acceptance would be a mature thread I would expect from these artists. They would get their time together and be happy with each other, but Nok might miss living too (dunno why...) so at some point Jaeshin would let him go for Nok's own good.
The old guy could've found a method to hurt Jaeshin - as a half-human he is. If he's convinced Jaeshin's cruel and heartless, he wouldn't try to attack his companion. Them having fun in Haenggung's (that was the name?XD) streets looked like Nok's Jaeshin's biggest treasure for a bystander? I'm not sure. Only we know the truth. ;]

You're killing me here, guys with your theories! So many options to consider! I don't want reincarnation, I don't want an open ending Σ(っ°Д °;)っ I just want them to be together forever and happy ლ(´ڡ`ლ) I know I'm being unreasonable and unrealistic, but I don't care! I can't handle sad or bittersweet endings. I need another season and please, not a tragic cliffhanger! those are brutal ( ̄∇ ̄")

The coronation just around the corner - the king, Yi Nok <3
But for sure he won't come back from his escapade. OFC the only last thing as he crown prince he wants to do, is to go into the city and be attacked by the old guy who holds a grudge against Jaeshin since 96 chapters. ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍
Also, the sexy bitch queen finally took her life. This time she's finally dead.
[do-not-rest-in-peace, come back in another story as a sexy ghost villain - the protagonist X3 ]
Did you noticed the pond when Nok likes to come "when his heart felt heavy and about to burst" is the same place from the 1st chapter when we meet him for the first time? As well as the first encounter between the prince and Jaeshin in his dog form.
