I actually like hate-reading dumb novels and stories because it's just fun! It's like reading a really stupid fanfiction but it's like an actual published book or comic. Like I've read coleen hoover books just to see where and how she fucked up in her writing and frankly, I just like making fun of these types of things. It's natural to point out criticism where you believe a story could have done better or been better. Also, there are some stories that I've read not to hate read but to actually read and then ended up hate-reading because the story was bad and I just couldn't put it down. It is a waste of time though. Don't recommend hate reading to anybody.

“Problematic” has become very subjective now. Remarried Empress is deemed as problematic, while pearl boy is a masterpiece. Who made me a princess is also deemed as problematic now. My goodness.

The reason why remarried empress is deemed as "problematic" or the reason as to why there has been controversy surrounding it is because the author decided to make a freed slave the antagonist and completely vilified her character in a cartoonish way. It's as if enslaved peoples aren't already ALWAYS at the way bottom of the food chain. You could make the argument that doesn't matter because fiction doesn't have any effect on reality and that readers can usually differentiate. And to that, I would agree with you. However, readers are very much allowed to question as why the author chose to write a character the way they did as even the smallest character desgins give insight into how the author perceives things. People are still allowed to discuss controversy over questionable choices. I know you did not ask for this response and that you weren't questioning as to why these stories are problematic but (and i may be repeating myself) people are always allowed to analyze stories even if they're created for enjoyment.

Problematic themes can be subjective, we all have different opinions and perspectives on things, i mean look at this damn thread. BUT ill be honest a large chunk of them are due to lack of awareness and education, both examples that were brought up quite literally have problematic/controversial themes but a lot of people dont see it that way because they dont know how to recognize when something is a problem. Thats why its so important to talk ab these things and point out when something is portrayed in a negative way, it spreads awareness and its important to not be ignorant to the things you're reading (cmon lets have some media literacy) Read whatever u want idgaf and i dont think they inherently make u a bad person, but obv u gotta be aware when something is bad and not to excuse said themes to justify liking them, u start normalizing it and then its a problem.
