What I don't like in these types of manhwa is that rape is portrayed as sex with extra steps which of course is VERY problematic. Despite that I don't think that in this case violence doesn't have a purpose (it could be less graphic though), as we see ACTUAL dialog instead of the shallow "Oh no don't". Yea we've established that they hate each other but at this point I don't think it's only about revenge but also their own inner conflicts. Both hurt and assert their dominance (in different ways) to escape from themselves too. Otherwise I think the story would've already ended with both or one of them dead.

    exactly what I was thinking, the dialogue feels mature somehow, about what is happening which is rape. I keep thinking that it's no longer /a romance/ when one character commits such great violence against the other, when it becomes a victim x abuser relationship, but there's also the context that sex involves a power relationship, and it was the way that (since ancient greece I think) men subjugated other men. but like you said, if the rape scenes weren't portrayed as "here's this sexy moment between the couple for you to enjoy" then maybe it would feel less problematic
