Meanwhile, Kasha at Vera has decided to save Luce if he’s being held captive against his will. Elsen and Erina has made it to Vera. Elsen is clueless that the prince and Luce’s relationship is fake. So he genuinely thinks there’s nothing to worry about Luce. So Kasha knew about Luce’s situation from the other friend at the capital who is now under house arrest for helping Luce almost escape before. Jessie who is Ail’s cousin (the one who told about Luce’s nightly trysts with Elsen at the beginning chapter) hands the blueprint of the northern palace to the other friend. Jessie intuitively guesses that Ail has feelings for Luce and he wants to bring out emotions out of him for his own amusement and to prove that even the coldest unfeeling Ail has feelings too). The northern palace is used as a stronghold during war for royal family that’s why it’s got secret passage in the basement. Kasha has his own story and is wanted dead by many people who hold grudge against him. So by leaving Vera he is basically going to his own death. Btw, Kasha is a tall handsome man who first appeared in a woman’s dress with lips so red and beautiful long black hair. He is very direct and he runs an inn in Vera. He is a pimp, he had to sell his body to survive in the world.

Back to the story, at the last day of the banquet, Ail finally has thoughts about what he might be feeling just might be love. It’s all starting to make sense to him and he is growing restless and anxious as if Luce might just disappear (which he’s right hahaha).
Kasha bought one of the knights standing guard in the northern palace and delivers a letter to Luce to which Luce almost misses as he is drowning in his sorrow. The letter said if he wanted to leave, meet him in the basement. Luce cleverly brings along the traitor knight along with him in an excuse to get cool air in this humid hot summer night into the basement. There he meets Kasha. Kasha says some really good eye opening shit to Luce and Luce starts to hesitate whether he wants to leave or not. After much pondering he decides to leave aaaaaand Ail appears of course. His heart sinks when he saw Luce with a beautiful man at the end of the tunnel/basement. He was so anxious coming all the way here.

Luce reflexively puts Kasha to his back to protect and holds a sword (sheathed) against Ail and the soldiers. Luce tells Kasha to run away to which Kasha refuses saying what’s the point of coming here if he was gonna leave him there. They gently look at each other and hold hands, they won’t leave one another and should they die, they would die together is what their eyes said to each other. Looking at them, Ail’s heart really sinks this time he couldn’t figure out why Luce was so dead set on going to Vera. It never crossed his mind that he might have a lover there. He saw how those two are so love in each other and are ready to die one another. He desperately asked Luce to let go of that hand and come back to him. But Luce held his hand even tighter. He is heartbroken… and he looks at their connected hands with anger, only if that man dies, only if he’s gone, everything will go back to normal — is what he foolishly believed. He ordered the guards to kill the man and Luce unsheathes his sword and protects Kasha. The soldiers were once under Luce’s command so they can’t go all out. Both sides are wary. Luce doesn’t attack, he only deflects the attacks.

Ail realizes Luce’s eyes are different. He has truly decided to leave him. There was nothing holding him back anymore. Ail took the guard’s sword and attacks Kasha and they began to fight each other. Ail was a brilliant sword master but he was no match against former commander Luce. But he had confidence that Luce would NEVER never hurt him. Things escalated, he took a swing at Kasha and in that moment Luce slashes Ail’s right shoulder. Ail looks at Luce in disbelief with almost tearful hurt eyes. He was truly abandoned by Luce. Kasha takes Luce’s hand and they run away all the while Luce is in trance like state. He can’t forget the look Ail had on his face. Ail was the one who hurt him, and said those cruel words at him so why was he looking like he was about to cry, like he was abandoned blah3

Ail orders the guards to stay silent about this case cuz if word got out, Luce would be sentenced to death by treason.

A week later I think, Luce and Kasha are headed to another kingdom. And Luce is still in trance, he can’t forget about Ail and the last moment with him. He is in pain and misses him terribly.

(BTW when Luce was held captive Luce was going crazy with jealousy imagining Ail dancing with Salina and how they would be together. He said he can’t face Ail bcs then he might go mad and kill Ail out of jealousy)


Looking at Luce’s sorry state, Kasha drops some truth bombs and Luce had some time to think about the past between them. He realized how he only focused on his pain and denied, ridiculed and dismissed all of Ail’s attempts to be gentle with him and care for him (yes there were moments like that). He regrets how he didn’t have the courage to say he loved him. He realized how they both hurt each other with their words and fists. He forgives Ail and decides to let it all go since it’s in the past now. (BTW he took the necklace (?) that Ail gave to him with him and he thinks about Ail, about how this and the scar is the only thing Ail gave to him aaaand he holds on to the necklace bc he can’t forget or let go of Ail.

On the other side, Ail isn’t doing any better either. He’s gone mad. Like mad. He thrashes around destroys everything in his room and doesn’t do his Princely duties. He is overcome with anger. He imagines killing Luce over and over again. But then gets petrified at the thought of his death. He realizes he can’t live without him. He would go mad and would die without him. He destroys everything in his wake only to calm down for a moment and repeat again.

On the way to the other country, Luce and Kasha are met with bunch of assassins out for Kasha’s head. And one of them grabs Luce’s hair so he cuts it.

In the palace, Jessie shows Ail Luce’s cut hair stained with blood. ail’s heart drops for the nth time lol. He deeply regrets not searching for Luce himself. He then immitially sets off to find Luce with his soldiers and he buys mercenaries along the way bc the high society can’t know about this so he can’t take the knights with him)

(BTW Ail has already started to regret his actions during the time he confined Luce. His heart would ache every time Luce would be cold to him, and when he hurt Luce. He didn’t want things to go this way. He only wanted Luce to smile at him gently and warmly, stay by his side and all. But what’s done was done, that’s why he asked for Luce’s heart when he was intoxicated.)

At the neighboring country, Kasha and Luce realizes that they are chased by a very dangerous vicious mercenaries called Red Scorpion. They hunt their prey slowly backing them to corner making them despair. Meanwhile Elsen and the other friend are on the move to Luce and Kasha. They are joined with Kasha’s mother (?) not real mother if I remember correctly.

The Red Scorpions blow a flute (? Smth like that to make a high pitched sound) when they hunt their preys. And Kasha and Luce are in the mountain surrounded by them. They also had mercenaries but they were killed. And they fight off the Red Scorpions. Their weapons are deadly and Kasha’s shoulder is pierced with a hook. Luce gets wounded at his front and other places and looses a lot of blood. And when he thought he was gonna die, he hoped to see Ail just one more time.

Ofc our ML appears at the crucial moment, shooting down the enemies in the neck with deadly accuracy from afar. Luce recognizes him. Ail was anxious all the way and only hoped for Luce’s safety. They reunite and Ail grabs Luce and puts him in his embrace (they’re on horseback). The soldiers and mercenaries Ail brought fought against Red Scorpions but honestly their numbers are a lot. Ail and Luce leave behind the rest of the group trynna escape. It’s raining btw. Ail sustains a lot of injury not as bad as Luce. Luce is ofc happy but can’t bring himself to look at him which Ail misunderstands that he doesn’t even want to look at him.

Just when the soldiers were about to lose, Elsen’s group saves the day. Kasha is quite vicious. He tells the Red Scorpions to tell their boss that he’s gonna get revenge against them 10-fold. He gives a detailed and gruesome order about killing and torturing all the remaining red scorpions. So if the red scorpions didn’t want that, they would need to stop chasing after Kasha.

(BTW there is another character with them who is the Duke or son of Duke of the neighboring country) who was the guy Kasha loved so much but heartlessly abandoned for a reason that gets revealed at the end. They loved each other so so much. Anyways they wait until midnight to hear from the Red scorpions.

Meanwhile Luce and Ail finds a village whose inhabitants were already murdered by Red Scorpions just for being in their way. They covered the window and doors of a house and lit fire. There were dead bodies outside and in the next room. They treated each other’s wounds. Aaaaaaaand THEY FINALLY TALK LIKE JESUS THANK GOD.

Luce musters up all his courage and says I love you and asks if Ail loves him too in a shaky voice. Ail is so surprised. He tenderly touches him and tells him that he’ll only say this once in his entire lifetime and he whispers his confession in Luce’s ears. Ofc Luce is overjoyed. His prob in tears bc I can’t remember hahah. Luce understands that Ail is born arrogant and selfish destined to stand atop of others and rule the empire. He never needed to and never had begged or asked for anything in his life before for everything was his to begin with. So he understands why Ail said he will say this only once. But that was enough for him. They have some hot steamy kiss and they can’t even control themselves and have sex when they’re like both terribly wounded and exhausted, chased by assassins.

They are found by Red Scorpions so they start fleeing. Meanwhile the other knights, Kasha and Elsen’s group receives message that they will stop chasing after Kasha BUT they had missed a crucial thing. They were also chasing after Luce. Turned out, after finding out that Ail had gone after Luce, duke Kaizel had also commissioned the Red Scorpions to kill his own son in hopes to kill Ail along. Realizing their mistake, they immediately look after Ail and Luce.

Ail takes an arrow at the back while trying to protect Luce and faints. And the other group finds them at the right time and treats Ail immediately. Luce my boy is literally gone he thought Ail was dying and was losing his mind internally. But yeah he lives. The soldiers and mercenaries kill off the remaining red scorpions.

While Ail was unconscious, there’s a charismatic messenger boy of Red scorpions. Luce tells him to tell his father that they have been killed and that if he wanted to confirm their dead body, he would have to come personally as they can’t transport the corpses in rain. The father is delighted and decides to go.

When the father arrived with his 100 smth mercenaries and knights, he is met with Luce. Luce, soft hearted, gave his father a chance. He was asked if he ever loved his mom and him. But his father beats him and denies it, demanding to know where Ail is. BTW the dad is pissed off that Luce is alive.

But our boy Luce is so smart he had planted the mercenaries that his father bought along the path his father came from so every thing was planned, you see. The father realizes his mercenaries and knights are gone and rushes to go back bcs if Ail and their group got to the palace before them, his treason would come to light and his house would fall.
He gets into carriage but the red scorpions are now hunting him bcs Luce had made a deal with the red scorpions that if he had come out unharmed (meaning his father didn’t do anything bad to him and Luce kinda forgives him), he would let his father go. BUT should he be harmed, the red scorpions would hunt them. Not to kill just to chase them away so Luce’s group could get to the palace first. Luce my boy so soft hearted.

(Back at the palace, Luce’s mother steals a ledger sort of thing from the father’s office that has all the shady illegal things the father did that is enough to destroy the house and sends it to Ail)

When Luce was gone to deal with his father, Ail wakes up trashes everything in his room fuming with anger. He thought Luce had left him. Luce comes in and comforts him. They be lusting for each other so hard that they almost made out lol. The other friend reprimands Luce. Ail is adamant about going in a roundabout way instead of passing through Vera, fearing Luce might decide to stay there. They have lovey dovey cute moments through out, making me jealous. Luce says to Ail that he’s so cruel to which Ail replies get used to it. Lmao.

They get back to the palace. Ail uses the ledger against house Kaizel to control them. He doesn’t wanna destroy them yet as they might be useful. And he knows Luce is jealous about Salina so he decides not to marry Salina and threatens her to back down or be ruined along with house Kaizel. Duke Kaizel is actually found dead.

The two love birds be kissing like they gonna devour each other at every given chance. And Luce manages to get away from Ail and tells Merril (?) to tell Ail to take his sleeping pills and rest while he was away. Ail didn’t take the pills and waits for Luce’s return at night. Yup they make out. Ail bites Luce’s neck until it drew blood but even that turned on Luce. Luce is horny af and Ail asks him to beg for it to which Kuce angrily said smth along the lines of “do you think I have the patience for that, just stick it in you bastard”

The next day Luce is reprimanded by his other friend bcs even though he tried to hide the evidence, his neck was battered with teeth marks and hickeys. He is so embarrassed.

At the end, they meet the charismatic young messenger of red scorpion and Luce can’t take his eyes off him bc he reminds him of Ail’s younger self. Before leaving, the young boy kissed the back of Luce’s hand and bid farewell and told him his name. In their religion, you tell your name to someone you wanna propose to so Ail is jealous. Luce deliberately and jokingly says that he quite likes young boys. And they continue to have sex on the armchair while Ail saying he’s gonna fuck him so hard he’s gonna get used to him until he doesn’t like young boys heh. Luce doesn’t know that Ail cancelled the marriage and is extremely jealous and upset. He doesn’t wanna tell Ail to not marry Salina bc he’s the emperor and there’s no other way. But after Ail’s much probing he admits he’s jealous af and tells him not to marry her. And that’s basically it.

(BTW Kasha’s lover is actually Kasha’s real twin brother. They were separated at birth and met each other when they grew up. They fell in love with each other and Kasha heard the truth from his mom so he was heartbroken and decided to leave the guy. But they prob gonna be together from here onwards though.

Guess it's not my cup of tea, I'm not gonna waste my time by reading this manhwa, cz I can't forgive the horrible things ail do to Luce, and I can't stand how Luke is so easy to forgive ail, well maybe this is what people say 'love is blind'

I'm not going to continue the read. Luce just hopeless in love and Ail take advantage of it. The way author make Luce accepted the fucked behavior as Ail just an arrogant fella because he was born to be a ruler is just pathetic. Arrogance doesn't make a good ruler. That one time I LOVE YOU confession is the future love live for Luce who must dance in Ail's tune. Sure Ail now won't be as rude and bad as before, but he won't change his behavior if Luce one day unknowingly trigger something.
