I thought the same. He forced his fate to get Kihoon by his side. It has bad side effect on Kihoon, he was so unlucky with all his relationship and anxiety build up inside him. And it seems their past didn't end well too judging there is heavy lingering feelings from their past live. Kihoon is collateral damage from his greed in the past. It looks like he is the key to solve the mystery around red strings attached to their fingers.

But how could they still end up together though...Hmmm..so how about Yeon finds out that everything is because of Joseon him and he thinks kihoon only likes him because of his past life manipulation, so He searches for a way to sever the red String of fate, he succeeds but Kihoon still likes him, so the moral of the story is that "fate" isn't everything?

I guess in their past their "fate" didn't favor them that much (if anything, from glimpses we have seen it ended up like a tragic romance) and the same "fate" tied between them in the past give them a new chance to redeem everything in current timeline.
