I completely agree with you, the author showed from the beginning that both of seo an and woowon are flawed characters, there is plenty of trauma and power imbalance between them, from what I see the author is showing how they will keep hurting eachother a lot unless they both resolve their issues, and communicate properly, just like you said plot wise the dub con here makes sense, we aren't supposed to excuse it, this is fiction where we can explore how the relationship of these 2 complicated characters will unfold
I understand being upset about what happened since it was avoidable, but people are making it seem as though the author wrote badly for including rape. I feel like a lot of stories include it regardless of how bad or well written it is because of how complex it is and can be. We don't know how it's going to be addressed just because it happened, and from what I just read we can definitely understand how that happened regardless of whether we think it was necessary or not. I wish that seo in could've gotten through to him better and gotten more upset at him but I also understand why he didn't tbh. I know woowon wasn't in his best place in mind but that isn't an excuse but an explanation. Idk fiction is a good place to expand and explore things like this and I don't think the author did anything wrong by including this, I feel like ppl (understandably so) reflect their morals in fiction too much. Hopefully it's addressed in a good way and they both get some therapy especially woowon
