Fear not, the novel really balanced plot and smut ! When I say balanced it's just the right amount of smut, more or less every hundred chapters after heavy plot (for reference ch56 of the manhua is equivalent to the 90s of the novel). And they take their time too, not rushing to the sex part right away but waiting for when they are ready and really want it. Kishiar the bestest greenflag.
I’ve said this before but the real strength of this series is reading like a shonen manga where the gay subtext becomes text. It FEELS slow when you’re comparing it to other bl where romantic development is the sole focus, but Yuder and Kishier first develop extremely deep levels of trust, admiration and sincere affection before it turns into a very natural romance.
((Vague spoilers))
A lot of the early novel build on how surprised these two are that someone else can think on their level with the same commitment to long term goals, which turns into ‘we understand each other so well he’s basically another limb acting in unison’, to love.
It is… EXTREMELY worth it, if a strangers opinion is worth anything. The sexual and romantic tension pays off in ways you will not b e l i e v e. I won’t spoil specific moments without being asked, but it’s a deeply sweet love story right from chapter 3 once you know how they end up. All of this early relationship is important ;-;
I hate to sound like a groupie, because I AM a Turning groupie, but trust me man it only gets better. The focus on the worldbuilding stays airtight and thought-out, the lore discovery progress doesn’t feel aimless, characters introduced early stick around and are developed… even with translation jank, I still found myself thinking the novel was one of the best pieces of fiction i’d ever read, pacing-wise

Damn binged 56 chapter and not the slightest bit of romance
