My theory is that he initially used the prince for revenge, but gradually started to like him. However, that’s wishful thinking. Another scenario is that this is all part of a revenge plan, even the knotting so the prince feels trapped.
I really hope Marstiel really likes the Prince and isn't tricking him. And what's with the kid saying he's the fiance?
