If I remember well, it's because MC was too young and got scared of how obsessive ML was. He wasn't ready for such commitment, so he ran away.
Not only obsessive, ML is way too toxic back then. Harming both him and Doha even more. So Doha running away is actually a very good decision
Did they ever explain why they broke up or whatever happened between them originally? I can't for the life of me remember
