Not what it looks like

Taekyung isn’t betraying Heeseo. He still has the evidence Inbeom gave him before everything happened. His goal seems clear, he wants Heeseo and Jaewon to meet so Jaewon can finally hear the truth, especially before anything legal happens.

He knows Jaewon’s feelings for him, and even if his own were mixed, he feels like he owes him honesty. That’s why when Heeseo shows up, Taekyung doesn’t get angry. He just asks, “Where have you been?” Not out of blame but because he’s relieved.

He wasn’t hiding from Heeseo. He was avoiding the real threat, the woman behind everything. Now that she’s aiming for congress, she’s more dangerous than ever. She’s already shown she’ll do whatever it takes to keep her record clean. At this point, Taekyung’s just trying to stay alive long enough to tell the truth.

Alright, I’ve found the raws up to chapter 88, and I agree with what you said about my Jaewon take. Taekyung only called Jaewon to let him know he’s not “missing”, just so Jaewon wouldn’t go after Heeseo. He doesn’t need to tell Jaewon anything in person either, since Jaewon will eventually find out on his own now that his mother has been arrested.
